InterPLAY Learning Academy’s mission is to empower children and their families to thrive in the community. We utilize a developmental relationship-based learning environment where the individual needs of each child are met through building healthy foundations for social, emotional, & academic growth.
InterPLAY Learning Academy’s vision is to offer an educational opportunity for children and their families to thrive in a non-traditional learning environment from kindergarten through high school. By offering a curriculum that is clinician created and educator supported; we will empower students to communicate, problem-solve, and navigate challenges independently.
Why Choose InterPLAY Learning Academy
InterPLAY Learning Academy was born from the need in our community for children who do not fit the traditional learning environment. InterPLAY Learning Academy is a place where all students can succeed because the individual needs of each child are met through relationships with teachers, therapists and staff. Clinicians, educators, and support staff are all proficient in techniques to support the students’ learning profile such as: sensory integration, social emotional support, speech and language, social interaction, and visual spatial thinking. Each student will have their own individualized learning curriculum that will target their personal goals and support their developmental and academic success.
Who Should Attend InterPLAY Learning Academy
We welcome all children whose learning profile does not fit the traditional school approach. Not only will our individualized learning curriculum support all children’s academic success, but also their developmental achievement. Upon admission to the program, teachers, therapists and staff will create each student’s own curriculum and learning program based on the child’s passions, strengths and academic goals.
Offering a unique environment, InterPLAY Learning Academy engages children through a developmental and relational framework called the DIRFloortime® Model. Our classrooms are more than merely groupings of same-age children who may or may not have similar learning styles or interests. They are made up of ecological systems of children with similar functional and emotional developmental capacities and academic abilities.
Most unique about our school is the availability of outside learning environments within the community. InterPLAY Learning Academy is a five day/week program, however each Friday the program will look a bit different. Students will take what they have learned each week and apply it to other environments outside of InterPLAY on that day. These activities may consist of animal-facilitated therapy and learning located on a working ranch with horses, ducks, geese, chickens, pigs and other farm animals. These animals would be integrated into daily hands-on lessons, not only teaching children academics, but also teaching them about life skills and caring for the environment. Other outings include opportunities for physical, cognitive, and emotional growth such as swimming, hiking, scavenger hunts, rock climbing, and more!
Consequently, children get the benefit of integrating core subjects like math, reading, writing, science, and history into a practical, interactive and engaging learning atmosphere aimed at success for all students.
Children’s strength-based abilities are nourished through the use of related services, such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and social/emotional supports, all intertwined within the daily curriculum. Children are not separated from their classmates at InterPLAY Learning Academy, but instead, are encouraged to grow and learn together within the context of their natural environment.
